Solar-constrained urban growth

We developped this procedure to explore the impact of sunlight and gravity on urban forms.

The algorithm generates building scenarios, based on direct sunlight access parameters.

Resulting urban forms are caved by the sun, thus enabling good solar access and natural light by design.

This performance-driven approach to design has also been shown to be capable of creating aesthetically pleasing urban forms..

Cette recherche explore la génération de formes urbaines contraintes par le soleil et la gravité.

Sur la base de conditions (ensoleillement, vues qualitatives, comportement structurel, etc…) éventuellement combinées ou évolutives, l’application génère des scénarios urbains, morphologiquement riches et par construction performants.

Ce jeu de positionnement savant des masses bâties pourrait permettre de concevoir des formes bioclimatiques avec des densités extrêmes.
